Thursday night West Ham reached an agreement over the ownership of striker Carlos Tevez. The club and Tevez’s advisors approved a £2 million compensation fee. After approval from the Premier League, Tevez will be allowed to make his move to Manchester United. Next week Tevez is expected to agree to terms that will move him to Old Trafford for 2-years earning £4.5 a year and afterward will be allowed a complete transfer. This brings an end to a dispute over who would receive Tevez’s transfer fee.
Will West Ham’s season resemble the last with out their “hero”?
Tevez shined last season as he made a huge impact in saving West Ham from relegation (video of his West Ham goals). Charlton made claims that they shouldn’t have been relegated because the transfer of Tevez was “illegal”, however West were only penalized with a fine. West Ham have acquired midfielders Freddie Ljungberg, Scott Parker along with forwards Craig Bellamy and Julien Faubert but lost Reo-Coker, Marlon Harewood, and Paul Konchesky. In a way it seems like West Ham’s first squad has lost a little of its quality with the departure of Reo-Coker and Harewood. Ljungberg lost his starting spot last season at Arsenal but will attempt to “cement” West Ham’s status in the Premier League. If West Ham were to keep Tevez, they would have a very strong attack and would not have trouble keeping afloat in the league. Things do not look dire but lets hope we don’t see a season such as the previous with one match deciding their fate.
