Copa America Final: Brazil 3 – Argentina 0

The Copa America finished with Brazil winning 3 -0 over the favorites Argentina. Coming into the game the Brazilians admited that Argentina was the stronger side. Brazil’s manager Dunga said that Argentina were the favorites but his team were capable of the upset.

The first goal came only five minutes into the match from a brilliant strike from Julio Baptista. Before the half, Roberto Ayala put through his own net after deflecting a deep cross from sub Dani Alves. In the 69th-minute a Brazil counter-attack resulted in a Dani Alves finish sealing the rout. The match was physical with 7 cards handed out and 58 fouls comitted.

Brazil captured the Copa America title for the second time in a row. In the beginning Dunga side lacked an attack. Dunga received criticism for his lack of generating creativity in the midfield. However by claiming the title, Dunga says that they have “restored the self-esteem” of the team and its fans. The squad silenced critics by upsetting a strong Argentina squad.
